The quiet small town of Four Oaks will be hopping Saturday with live musical performances, rides, antique cars, kids games, vendors and food trucks at the 30th Annual Four Oaks Acorn Festival in Barbour Grove Park. The downtown area event runs from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m.

“This event is always a wonderful community event that is enjoyed by all ages,” Four Oaks Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Joan Pritchett said. “I’d like to invite everyone to come out and enjoy a beautiful day filled with fun, food, and entertainment, visit with area businesses and shop for unique items.”

Things get underway at 10 a.m. with live entertainment in the Barbours Grove Oak Pavilion featuring the Four Oaks Middle School Ensemble, the Louis Waymore Band and Carolina Dreamers.

For the younger set there’s plenty to keep them entertained this year as well. Armbands will be available for $8 and will be good all day on a variety of rides.

Attractions include a rock climbing wall, a trackless train ride, the carousel bounce, the circus city crawl through, the circus city playland, circus city slide and an obstacle course.

There will also be presentations by Camp Flintlock throughout the day and the Classic and Antique Car Show will feature a People’s Choice Award.

Vendors of all sorts will take their places as well. There will be a business expo and a shopping mart featuring crafts, artisans and other vendors of unique items.

Don’t worry if you get hungry, that’s covered too. Everything from barbecue to shaved ice will be on hand. The Red Neck BBQ Lab will be joined by Jeffrey’s Grill serving Angus burgers and handcrafted grilled sandwiches, FC & More will offer corn dogs, footlongs, fries and nachos while Kona Ice will have a variety of shaved ice. There’s also Funn-4-Ahl funnel cakes and fried treats such as Twinkies, Pop Tarts and popcorn. Visitors can top it all off with ice cream cones, sundaes and floats from Luiga’s Ice Cream.

There will also be a 50/50 raffle with a first prize of half the cash pot. There will also be drawings for other prizes donated by the vendors who make up the Shopping Mart and Business Expo.
