WMU Day to
be held at Overhills Community

Overhills Community Baptist Church will celebrate WMU Day Sunday at 11 a.m. The speaker will be Susan Stines. Her husband, the Rev. Billy Stines, is the interim pastor. The church is located at 948 Overhills Road, Linden. Everyone is welcome.

‘God is Love’
program set Sunday

Greater Faith & Deliverance Ministry will hold a “God is Love” program Sunday at 3 p.m. The speaker will be Elder Bernard Geddie of New Covenant Holy Church, Dunn. The church is located at 7070 Plain View Highway, Dunn. The pastor is Lewis A. Geddie.

Old-fashioned dinner to be held Sunday

The Women’s Ministry of Antioch FWB Church will host its annual Old-Fashioned, Dress-Down Dinner Sunday immediately following the morning service. Antioch is located at 7559 Carlos Road, Linden. The pastor is Bishop Dr. John E. McDowell.

Brunswick stew, bake sale set Feb. 22

First Baptist Church of Erwin will hold its Brunswick stew and bake sale Feb. 22 from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. The cost is $10 per quart. The church is located at 310 S. 12th St., Erwin.

Women, Men’s Fellowship enjoy meal

The Women and Men’s Fellowship of First Free Will Baptist Church and guests were served a meal on Tuesday after the fellowship’s regular meeting. The menu consisted of carrots, tossed salad, asparagus, blackened baked chicken breast, sausage roll biscuits, red velvet cake with cream cheese filled with vanilla cream sauce, tea and water. The meal was catered by Jasmin Hicks Pegues who is the daughter of Nikita Hicks.

Black’s Chapel to hold dinner Feb. 22

Black’s Chapel United Methodist Church will hold a dinner Saturday, Feb. 22, from 4 to 7 p.m. The meal will consist of vegetable soup or chili, with a choice of salad or baked potato and comes with a beverage and dessert. The cost is $8 for adults and $4 for children ages 10 and younger. There will also be a quilt raffle. The tickets cost $1.

history program

Long Branch Disciples of Christ Church, 1921 Barefoot Road, Newton Grove, will hold a Black History Month program Sunday at 3 p.m.

Stedman Baptist
to host Southern gospel sing

There will be a southern gospel sing Saturday, Feb. 22, at 6 p.m. at Stedman Baptist Church. Featured on the program will be the Port City Quartet and Larry Chason and Carolina Tradition. Admission is free; however, a love offering will be received.

Spaghetti plate
sale set Feb. 21

The WMU Ladies of Overhills Church are raising funds for Becky Waddell and Bobby Short. They have to relocate because the house they’re in needs a lot of work and the landlord wants to sell.

Spaghetti plates with salad, bread and dessert will be sold for $7 each on Friday, Feb. 21, from 4 to 7 p.m. Eat in or take out will be available.

The church is located at 948 Overhills Road, Linden.

Oak Grove AME
to host Riverside Community revival

Riverside Community Revival will be held at Oak Grove AME Zion Church on Feb.19-21. Wednesday night’s speaker is Bishop Benjamin Sutton; Thursday night’s speaker is the Rev. Kenneth Swann and Friday night’s speaker is Dr. Thomas Washington. Services begin each night at 7. The Rev. Nicholas M. Irion is pastor.

Hattitude will be held at Oak Grove AME Zion Church on Saturday, Feb. 29 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. There will be speakers and a show of beautiful hats. Lunch will be served.

Church anniversary, black history celebrations Feb. 23

Pleasant Grove FWB Church, 1520 Casper Road, Dunn, will celebrate its anniversary and black history on Feb. 23. Dr. Anthonnette Wright of Raleigh will lead the service at 11 a.m. and Rev. Troy Williams will lead the program at 3 p.m. Lunch will be served.
