Patience Marshall broke her own school record in the women’s shot put on Saturday at the Dick Taylor Carolina Challenge in Chapel Hill.

Marshall bested her former school-record mark of 13.99 meters by throwing a 14.32-meter toss today. The sophomore standout finished second overall in the event as unattached thrower Lena Giger placed first with a 16.30-meter throw.

On the track

Daequon Carr and Samuel Adams qualified for the 60-meter finals with times of 6.90 and 6.93. The duo both ran a 6.90 in the finals to finish sixth and seventh overall.

The women’s 4x400 meter relay team comprised of Jenae Dorsey, Naelee Stone, Nascha Blue, and Chastity Pickett finished fourth in 4:04.20, outpacing teams from High Point and Hampton.
