No to government health care plans

To the editor:

With the election now over, Americans are facing terrifying uncertainty in what the future holds for health care. This uncertainty will quickly turn to panic once President Biden implements Bidencare, a new health care system that will increase premiums, eliminate private plans, and eventually transition into full-blown single-payer health care. This will lead to lower quality of care and extremely limited options for the American people.

Bidencare mimics Medicare for All, a radical plan to restructure our entire health care system. It will place total control in the hands of the government under the pretense that Americans are unable to choose their own provider and plan.

By creating a public option, Bidencare will push out private insurance and millions will be forced into this new government-run health care system. With a staggering price tag of $800 billion, Bidencare will also increase personal income taxes for taxpayers by 18%.

North Carolina’s biotechnology industry continues to grow, with specialties ranging from pharmaceutical manufacturing to breakthrough technologies. We have some of the best health care providers available in the Triangle and are No. 1 in both pharma manufacturing and bio manufacturing in terms of employment.

We need our delegation — Sens. Thom Tillis and Richard Burr — to stand up for North Carolina taxpayers, hospitals, patients, and innovation in the biotech field by adamantly opposing plans that allow the government to overtake the health care industry.
