A 23-year-old Dunn man, treated for a laceration sustained at a home on Harnett Highway, is behind bars after deputies discovered a woman’s lifeless body inside the same home Friday night.
Deputies were called to 5423 Harnett Highway, in the Dunn area of rural Sampson County for a report of a shooting sometime after midnight Friday, according to a release from the Sampson County Sheriff’s Office.
When they arrived, they discovered the body of 29-year-old Belinda Davis. According to the report, Davis lived at the address where she died.
During the course of the next several hours, investigators discovered a man had been driven by personal vehicle to the Dunn Rescue Building and was then transported to the WakeMed Health emergency department by ambulance. The report said he was treated for a laceration that occurred earlier in the evening at the house where Davis’ body was discovered.
On Saturday, investigators identified and charged Darrius Blue, of 100 Deerfield Lane, Dunn with murder. He remains jailed in the Sampson County Detention Center without bond.
“I am proud of the hard work deputies and investigators have and continue to put into this case,” Sampson County Sheriff Jimmy Thornton said.
No further details were made available Monday.
“At this time, the investigation is ongoing and further details or comments will be released,” said Lt. Marcus Smith. “As the case develops further, more information may be released.”
